several homes. weather channel's jim cantore live for us in mobile and joins us now. obviously, the sun is out and completely different now but explain why the monster system brought such a different batch of unexpected weather to certain places. >> reporter: well, we haven't had any big cold air masses in the east. so, you know, unless the gulf which is our fuel source is cooled off by a cold front, we can just take it as much as we want and that's what this storm did. came down, scooped up moisture, got warm and the jet stream came over and tornadoes that caused damage. this is a parish here, this is a an episcopal church. looking at the roof damage. you see a couple pieces of roof gone. that's not too bad. look how massive the church is and the top layer here, completely twisted by the tornado. all right? so that's going to have to be removed and rebuilt in through here. trees, power lines, damaged throughout mobile. we may have a four to five-mile path here but alabama power have been out all evening and morning getting some 40,000 people back online. 40,000. think about it. it'

because of a guy played by jim carrey, the david blaine type doing stunts. hysterical -- >> ridiculous. >> yeah, just accept that it will be ridiculous and you almost don't rods steve buscemi. >> yeah, we're used to him now from hbo. plenty of silly stuff in april. >> that's right. "scary movie 5," which actually -- >> oh, which i've been waiting for. >> i know you have. you can't stop tweeting about it! but it's an all-star cast, using the term star relatively in some cases. but whatever we're talking about is the lindsay lohan cameo. apparently, she's already seen a epreview and is very unhappy. but i think people will be watching that because we already know a little more about the fate of lindsay lohan at that time. >>> y >>>. >> yes, let's talk about may, the start of the blockbuster season. >> they'll bring out "iron man 3," iron man 2" made $312 million in 2010. so that will be big. also, "the great gatsby," beautifully stunning visually, but it was supposed to be released in december. this is supposed to be a holiday release and they pulled it off the docket to release it in ma

. >> i'm sorry, jim. i am going to stop the subsidy to pbs. >> big bird here, patrick, may have never been so famous. did the big bird situation really hit home some. >> it did in the sense that it sort of made romney a purchling bag in the same way that another item on our list that some of the social media highlights either republicans or the national bench. when you get the moments that are sort of funny on the substance of them, but also sort of lend themselves so social media, and that was the case with clint eastwood and the case with the big bird comment. a lot of big bird fans on twitter, and they sort of made mitt romney eat his words on that one with the fake accounts and things like that. >> there goes the invisible obama. we have that chair there. that was a funny account. that was opened just within that same night. there's also this photo that was tweeted out by the president on election night. you remember. it became the most retweeted photo of all time. >> that's right. you know, i think what's interesting to look forward to -- or maybe not look forward to -- is we saw

consequences of making that again such a political battle -- >> jim, talk to that. why do you guys have leverage? a lot of republicans on capitol hill say, look, we should too much blood on this tax fight but we are more than happy to bring the president to his knees over these budget wars in the next 60 to 90 days. explain why you guys have such good leverage. >> i think the leverage is pretty simple. we've given the president his tax increases on the rich. the rich people are saying more or however the president wants to say it. so that part is off the table. now we get to concentrate on the spending. this president has run trillion dollar deficits every single year and he's had no interest in trying to slow those down. i think over the next 60 days for republicans to win this battle, they're going to have to frame this issue in spending trillion dollar deficits in a $16.4 trillion total debt in this country. if we don't want to be greece, we have to do something about big spending now. >> nia, i want to give you the last word on all of this. we were talking about president obama
